The arena hosts both the NCAA Big East Men's Basketball conference tournament and National Invitation Tournaments (NIT) each year. MSG is hosting the 2014 NCAA March Madness tournament's East Regional games this year, and it marks the first time in 53 years that the venue has hosted the NCAA tournament.

The arena is home to the NBA San Antonio Spurs, WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars, AHL San Antonio Rampage and the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo draws in 1.5 million visitors annually, over the 18 day horse, livestock, rodeo and entertainment event. 2014 marks the first time AT&T Center plays host to the NCAA March Madness tournament.
