The Evolution of Crowd Control
PEZ Candy Installs Post N Panel Display Barriers From Pro Stanchions
Visiontron Mini Socket Clear Post N Panel Barriers Protect Exhibits While Allowing Full Display
Grand Island, NY. April 22, 2015
How do you provide unobstructed views while limiting physical access to an exhibit? PEZ Candy needed this solution for both a vintage candy machine display and their custom produced Orange County Chopper, and Pro Stanchions was honored to assist.
The custom Post-N-Panel system with clear acrylic panels by Visiontron Corp. of Hauppauge, NY, provides the ability for full visual inspection without obstruction. This aesthetically pleasing satin aluminum barrier increases the limitation of physical contact much greater than typical belt or rope stanchions by forming a solid surface obstacle.
PEZ® Chopper
Built in 2006 by Orange County Choppers in Newburgh, NY
“American Chopper” was a show featuring the Teutul family; it was one of the best-rated cable television shows in 2006 drawing millions of viewers each week. Our chopper was not featured on the show but can be seen in the background in several episodes while it was under construction.
Part of our agreement when building the motorcycle was to make the family; Paul Sr., and his sons Paul Jr, and Mikey into PEZ dispensers. They are the first, living people to have their head on a PEZ dispenser!
Some of the choppers unique features include; policeman and fireman dispensers in the wheels, candy tablet rear view mirrors, PEZ dispenser holders on both sides of the bike, retro candy pack gas tank and a large Darth Vader dispenser as the oil tank.
The chopper is over 10 feet long and weights just over 800 lbs! The chief builder was Rick Petko of OCC and the PEZ themed paint was done by ‘Nub Grafix’. Along with the classic PEZ girl, various candy tablets and wild graphics, there is a tiny Mickey Mouse dispenser painted on the bike.
The dual line receiver posts used in this application are outfitted with Visiontron's exclusive Mini-Socket mount, which allows the posts to be screwed into a small socket in the floor, reducing the floor space needed to install. The 2" or 4" deep sockets are approximately 1" wide which reduces the amount of drilling needed in the floor surface.
Shawn Peterson, Project Manager at PEZ Candy Inc. explains the display above and why the new solution was needed
"This display consists of vintage vending machines from the 1960's and corresponding advertising sheets for each. The 2 red machines are from the U.S. and the yellow and small white machine are European. Kids LOVED to turn the knobs and would go right under the previous stanchion and straps we had to touch them, despite several ‘please do not touch’ signs. The new post and panels allows for full display as before but gives us a child proof barrier."
